Ray-Ban Meta in Germany: models, prices and which AI features work

What these glasses are

Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta are glasses that look like normal sunglasses or prescription glasses. The frame holds a camera, speakers in the arms and microphones. You can say „Hey Meta“ to talk to the Meta AI assistant, listen to music, make calls and take photos or videos. The glasses work together with your smartphone and the Meta AI app.

On its help page, Meta lists Germany as a country where the AI glasses are sold and supported. According to Oakley, the glasses are intended for ages 13 and up. What Meta AI itself can do in WhatsApp or Instagram is covered in a separate article on Meta AI in Germany.

Which models there are and what they cost

On 10 October 2026, the German Ray-Ban online shop listed these models (prices depend on frame and lenses):

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3): the newest model, for example as Wayfarer or Aviator for 529 euros, as Zena for 479 euros and as an Aviator limited edition for 579 euros. Frames made specifically for prescription lenses cost 449 euros. According to Ray-Ban, Gen 3 has a 12-megapixel camera, films in 3K for up to three minutes at a time and, according to the maker, lasts up to nine hours on a charge.

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2): still on sale, for 449 to 499 euros depending on the model.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio: a new model with no camera at all, only speakers and Meta AI, for 429 euros. In the shop it was initially only available to pre-order; Ray-Ban states up to 12 hours of battery life.

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1): remaining stock for 269 to 307 euros.

Oakley Meta: the Oakley Meta Vanguard sports glasses cost 549 euros in the German Oakley shop, 629 euros in one variant; the Oakley Meta HSTN costs 439 to 519 euros.

Meta Ray-Ban Display: the model with a screen

The Meta Ray-Ban Display has a small colour screen in the right lens and is controlled with a wristband, the Meta Neural Band. According to Meta, it shows you walking directions, for example, and phone notifications are due to appear there soon.

Until now it was only available in the US. On 23 September 2026, Meta announced it would also offer it in Germany, France and Italy. Pre-orders are opening gradually; from 13 October 2026 it is due to be sold online and in shops in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. According to Meta's blog it starts at 899 euros. Prescription lenses are only due in Germany later in the year. Meta already lists Germany among the countries for the Display glasses.

Not every feature arrives at once: according to Meta, the extended calendar is English only in the US, cycling and public transport navigation is initially for the US and Canada, and video holograms initially for the US.

Which AI features work in Germany

Meta AI by voice: according to Meta, since April 2025 you can also ask Meta AI questions by voice with the glasses in Germany, though not yet in German at first. According to Meta's release notes, since late July 2025 you can also make calls, send messages and get information in German, and German is in the list of languages for Meta AI on the glasses.

Questions about what you see: in April 2025 Meta announced it was rolling this feature out to the supported EU countries. You look at a building, for example, and ask what it is.

Live Translation: the glasses translate conversations in real time. According to Meta, this works in 20 languages with an internet connection, German included. English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish also work offline once you have downloaded the language pack, but not on the Ray-Ban Meta Audio.

Camera: taking photos and videos by voice command works independently of the AI.

One contradiction in the sources: the small print on the German Oakley product page says Meta AI and voice commands are only available in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Meta's own help pages, however, list German. We go by Meta's information, but if in doubt, check in the shop.

What to keep in mind

The glasses work together with your smartphone and the Meta AI app; without a phone you will not get far.

The camera is discreet. According to Ray-Ban, the opening for the camera and light is noticeably smaller on Gen 3. So be considerate and do not film in places such as changing rooms, doctors' surgeries or schools.

If you do not need the AI features but only music and calls, the cheaper Ray-Ban Meta Audio without a camera is an option.
