Gemini Spark and Auto Browse in Germany: what Google's AI agents can do here

You currently cannot use Google's AI agents in Germany. According to Google, Gemini Spark is available almost worldwide with Google AI Pro or Ultra, but explicitly not in the European Economic Area, which includes Germany. Auto browse in Chrome is only enabled in the US for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and even the Chrome assistant Gemini in Chrome lists no EU country (as of October 2026). The regular Gemini app and the Google AI plans, by contrast, are available in Germany.

What Spark and Auto browse are

According to Google, Gemini Spark is a personal AI agent. It is meant to handle tasks in the background around the clock, connect to Gmail, Docs and other services, and ask before consequential steps such as spending money or sending emails. Google presented Spark in May 2026, initially only for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US.

Auto browse is the agent mode of Gemini in Chrome. Gemini operates websites itself: it compares products, adds items to the basket, looks for accommodation or books restaurants. According to Google, it asks before sensitive steps or asks you to take over, for example when paying. Spark can use Auto browse too, currently only in the desktop version of Chrome.

Google itself calls the agent mode in Chrome experimental and points out that it can make mistakes and, for example, order something unintentionally.

Which countries and plans

Gemini Spark: according to Google's help page, you need a personal Google account, must be at least 18 and need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan. Spark is available wherever the Gemini apps are, with four exceptions: the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Nigeria. The trade site PPC Land reported on this expansion to around 160 countries at the end of July 2026.

Auto browse: here Google is even stricter. You must be in the US, at least 18, have an AI Pro or Ultra plan and set your device language to English. According to Google, AI Pro allows up to 20 such tasks a day, Ultra up to 200.

Gemini in Chrome: even the Chrome assistant without agent mode is only available in selected countries, according to Google. Google's country list does not include a single EU country, so Germany is not on it either.

Computer, Android and iPhone

On a computer, Gemini in Chrome runs on Windows, Mac and Chromebook Plus according to Google. Auto browse is available there for users in the US.

On Android, Gemini in Chrome has been available to all users in the US since August 2026; Auto browse there is likewise limited to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US.

On the iPhone, Auto browse is currently not available at all according to Google, not even in the US.

Spark itself runs in the Gemini mobile app, the Gemini app for Mac and in the browser at gemini.google.com. For Germany this makes no difference, because Spark is not enabled here on any device.

What works in Germany today

The Gemini app and the web version at gemini.google.com are available in Germany according to Google, including in German. Google keeps two country lists for this: it names over 230 countries and territories for the web version and over 150 countries for the mobile apps. There you can chat with Gemini as usual, have it write texts or ask questions.

You can also subscribe to the Google AI plans in Germany. According to Google, AI Plus costs 4.99 euros a month, AI Pro 21.99 euros and AI Ultra from 99.99 euros. To use Gemini with one of these plans in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 18 according to Google. Google also points out that features vary by plan and region. For customers in Germany that means: the agent features Spark and Auto browse are not included in these plans here, not even in the expensive Ultra plan.

Why Europe is missing and what comes next

Google gives no reason for excluding Europe on its help pages. Nor has Google announced a date for Germany or the EU.

It is striking that Google expanded Gemini in Chrome to many more regions in June 2026, such as Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, but left out Europe. When that will change is open. Anyone who wants to use these features in Germany can only wait for now.
