What Meta Ray-Ban Display is
Meta Ray-Ban Display is a pair of glasses from Meta and Ray-Ban with a small colour screen in the right lens. It has 600 by 600 pixels and, according to heise, appears at the bottom right of the right eye's field of view. According to Ray-Ban, only you can see the display, and it disappears when you do not need it. It shows you things like messages, photos, directions and answers from the AI assistant Meta AI, without taking your phone out of your pocket.
The glasses come with the Meta Neural Band, a wristband. It measures the electrical signals of your muscles, so you can control the glasses with small finger movements, for example to read messages or answer calls. You can also control the glasses by voice. According to Telekom, the wristband is included and not sold separately.
The glasses also have speakers, microphones and, according to Telekom, a 12-megapixel camera. According to Meta, the battery lasts up to six hours, the foldable charging case adds up to 24 hours, and the wristband lasts up to 18 hours.
This page covers only the display model. We explain the Ray-Ban Meta glasses without a screen on a separate page.
Since when it is available and what it costs
On 23 September 2026, Meta announced that it would also sell the display glasses in Germany, France and Italy. Pre-orders came first; since 13 October 2026, the glasses have been on sale online and in stores. In the US they have been available since autumn 2025. Meta lists Germany among the countries where the display glasses and the Neural Band are supported.
The price is 899 euros, wristband included (as of October 2026). Meta, the German Ray-Ban shop, Telekom, MediaMarkt and Saturn all give this price. At Telekom you can get the glasses without a contract. If you take out or renew a Telekom mobile contract, financing is possible, for example 1 euro plus 36 instalments of 22.10 euros on the MagentaMobil M plan. Ray-Ban offers instalments via Klarna. At MediaMarkt, 24-month financing costs 999.36 euros in total, around 100 euros more than the cash price.
Demand appears to be high: on 18 October, one variant was marked as coming back soon in the German Ray-Ban shop, and Meta notes on its help page that demo appointments are in high demand.
Where to buy and try them on
According to Meta, the glasses are available at launch online and in selected stores in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. They are also sold by Telekom, which lists participating shops on its website, the German Ray-Ban online shop, and MediaMarkt and Saturn; there, the variant we checked was marked online only on 18 October.
Getting the right size matters. According to Meta, the frame comes in standard and large sizes and the Neural Band in three sizes. If you order from the Meta Store, you first have to complete an online sizing guide for the Neural Band. Ray-Ban lets you book an in-store demo to try the gestures and find the right size with help from staff. Meta also points to a demo finder for stores near you. You can, however, order from online retailers without an appointment.
Prescription lenses: the sources contradict each other here. Meta writes that prescription lenses will only come to Germany later in the year; heise reports the same. Telekom, however, writes in its launch announcement that selected certified opticians can replace the lenses with prescription lenses, for single-vision lenses from −4.00 to +4.00 dioptres. If you need prescription glasses, ask the retailer or optician specifically before buying. None of the sources mentions varifocal lenses.
Which features work in Germany and which do not
According to Telekom, the glasses show messages, pictures and videos, plus weather, reminders and your calendar. Video calls work via WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, and the display acts as a viewfinder for the camera. heise points out, however, that some features are not yet available or only partly available in Germany. Meta's help pages show the same (checked on 18 October 2026):
Live captions: the glasses can show spoken words as text, but according to Meta only in English.
Live translation: on the display model, Meta currently supports English, French, Italian and Spanish. German is missing; more languages are to follow soon. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses without a display, by contrast, already translate with German.
Meta AI in German: Meta's language list for its AI glasses includes German. We found no statement specifically for the display model.
Walking directions: Meta's overview of supported locations lists Germany. Meta's help page on walking directions, however, lists only Hamburg for Germany, including in its section on the display model. It is best to try it during a demo. Cycling and public transport directions are initially available only in the US and Canada.
North America only: asking Meta AI by writing with your finger on your leg or a table (neural handwriting) is an early-access feature for the US and Canada, in English only. Replying to messages by finger-writing, by contrast, works in Germany too according to Meta, but only in English. The more powerful calendar is available only in English in the US, and photorealistic holograms for WhatsApp video calls start in the US first. Meta has announced mirrored phone notifications only as coming soon, with no date for Germany.
What you need and what happens to your data
According to Telekom, you need a compatible smartphone, the free Meta AI app, a Meta account and an internet connection. Ray-Ban states a minimum age of 13.
Camera: a signal LED lights up when you take photos, record videos or livestream. According to Telekom, the camera switches off automatically if the LED is covered or tampered with. Still, be considerate and do not film people without their knowledge.
Voice recordings: according to Meta's voice privacy notice for its AI glasses, Meta stores recordings and transcripts of your voice commands by default for up to one year to improve its products; trained reviewers may assess them. You can delete them sooner in the Meta AI app. The notice explicitly names Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta; it does not say whether exactly the same rules apply to the display glasses.
Wristband: according to gadgetChecks, citing Meta, the Neural Band interprets the muscle signals on the wristband itself. Meta AI, messages and translations still need the internet and your Meta account.
